~Joss is 3 months today~

Well, today our little babe is 3 months already!!
He is doing so well. He is sleeping great overnight, usually around 6-9 hours. He is breastfeeding like a champ too. He is taking bottled breastmilk with no problems whilst I am working.

He is such a chatter box 'talking' a lot. He especially loves to talk to Erin. Joss now will spend a bit of time on the floor with his toys, just tricky as his big bro wants to lay on him!! So we need pay close attention when both boys awake! He had his first real laugh at Erin as she swung on the swing out the back, capturing it on film was just a bonus! We are seeing looking a lot like the other 2 babes now. We think he looks like Erin a fair bit as a baby, although he shares Darcy's feature his head shape is very much like Erin. He is a joy to have and certainly making our family seem more complete :)

Darcy's First Hospital Trip

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at William Angliss Hospital ED with Darcy. Last thursday I noticed a little tiny white speck on the blue of his eye. I tried rubbing it away, tried a little saline wash and it did nothing, we thought it would shift with Darcy rubbing his eyes etc.. Come Sunday it was still there and now noticably causing him some greif. He was becoming very sensitive to bright lights, closed his eyes tight when having his nappy changed (laying down) and his eye and nose were running quite a lot. So I asked Arron to take him to the ED to see if they can get it out... no point waiting for an appt with our GP in a few days time. They were unable to remove it and told us to bring him back tomorrow (monday) and requested him to fast from 9am as they would need to sedate him to have a better go at getting it out. We arrived and after a long wait they put the little patches of cream on to numb the area's they would try to put a needle in. He fell asleep on me for half an hour or so until they were ready. As you can imagine it was not a nice and easy task getting the canular in!! They then gave him medication to get him very drowsy and almost asleep but still awake. It took a needle point to scrape it off the cornea. It is still not known what it was, perhaps a little something from the beach last week? it looked just like a little speckle of paint. Darcy was quite aggitated and upset when the medication was wearing off and he was 'coming out of it'. After a few hours we got him to eat a lolliepop and had a drink of juice and a biscuit. We took him home and he had a good nights sleep last night. He is back to his normal self today and is heading back to hospital to make sure his eye healed up tomorrow. Poor little man!!!!!!!!!!

We have been pretty busy here. Erin spent last week adjusting to kinder and spent 7 hours there. This week she begins full time Kinder for 10 hours. She is loving it. I can't wait to do kinder duty to see what they do all those hours there LOL! Erin has dad's night at kinder coming up which will be fun for them. She is also beginning to get ready for the children doing their own Commonwealth games at end of term (which is only a few weeks away already!)
Nani took Erin and Darcy to the beach last wednesday (Darcy's first trip to the beach) and they had a ball. And of course a trip to the beach is not the same without feeding the seaguls some of your fish and chips for lunch!! Darcy has been a good boy. With Erin doing 2 afternoon sessions at kinder and 1 morning, he doesnt really get a chance to miss her as he is sleeping. He sleeps really well in the quiet too whicis great. He is talking so much more. We are thrilled that he has learnt to say NO and NAH, it has almost turned him into a whole new kid! He is all of a sudden asserting himself in his little community of friends and of course to us. He is still madly in love with his little brother which is nice to see, no jelousy yet. Joss is growing ever so fast! He is now 12 weeks. He visited the health nurse and he is now 5.5kg's which is a gain of 600gms in 2 weeks. So reasuring to know your milk is doing the right thing! He has become quite unsettled during the day. He is not sleeping much during the day and when he does it is only for 20 mins in your arms. We know he gets terrible wind pain and it seems to intensify and wake him in fits of crying during the day. All I can say is thank god he sleeps well at night, otherwise I would be in trouble! He had his first real laugh at his sister who was swinging on the swings out the back at home. I raced inside and was able to capture it on video, so precious!

I went back to work for the first time last Saturday. So much had changed in the almost 5 months I had been away. Luckily it was a nice relaxed shift and I got lots of time to express and ease back into the work load. I begin back at work officially on 1st March. The kids were fine with me away for the whole day and Joss took the bottle no problems. We now just have to work out how much milk satisfies him for each feed. I also am a little more relaxed this time around with his feeds whilst I am at work. Being a whole lot more busier with the children, I dont often get time to express at home, so we will have some little sachets of formula in case he runs out of breast milk whilst I am working. And that about sums up our last week and a bit!

Darcy

Thought that I needed to blog about the other babe in my life, Darcy!! He is almost 21 months! He has taken to his new big bed so well! His sleeping pattern is unchanged, he goes to sleep just as well which is fantastic. I dreaded the thought of taking him back to bed 10 times before he would go to sleep, but perhaps that is something he may do when he is older. Darcy is talking so much more. I am so pleased that he has come out of his shell a bit more too. He actually has an attitude at home now LOL! He still is a lovely little man who is so easy going. He just loves Joss which is lovely. He has taken to burping him and thinks its hilarious when Joss burps. Darcy is so funny with his little way's. He rarely goes anywhere without his keys and his hat. He also now has a shaved head. #4 all over which looks spunky. He is still train mad. We recently took him to see Puffing Billy AGAIN.. He loves it. We see him go past and Darcy just say's more, more, more!! We have since filmed the train and he loves to watch it over and over again. I think with Erin gone at kinder 10 hours a week he will love doing more 'boys' things.
